UA going to buy Jetblue?
#21
Guys, as a JB pilot I wish this were true, but I can't see any way this would happen. It would require huge NYC divestitures, not to mention the gigantic price premium UA would have to pay for JB. JBLU is currently valued at $5.6bil market cap, and I'd wager the BOD would want $8-10bil valuation at least for their baby.
And the DOT/DOJ would just pee their pants laughing at the idea.

So this in not going to happen.
1) NYC is 3 airports together. They would have to diverge almost all of JFK to have this happen.
2) LH no longer owns a big chunk of them. They sold all of there position in 2012.
3) B6 is making a killing feeding international carriers. They do not need to be part of the star.
4) the DOJ will not let a low cost carrier be absorbed into a legacy so they can see the tickets prices skyrocket. The local congressmen and senators will block it. (Local being New York, Florida, California).

I will add that B6 has some E190 due for delivery in 2018 I think and they have some that they have said they want to sale. I could see United buying those. DAL also backed out of the 20 Air Canada 190 so this could happen.
A month ago I would have said it is not likely but on the 3Q call Kirby made a comment about regional jet usuage that we would be looking at "scope maximum." So despite the 65 737 and 11 or so 319 I would not be surprised to see them do a SNB to grow the regional fleet to Scope maximum.

You are incorrect most JetBlue pilots would not want this rumor to be true
