Default UPS short of pilots

From the Chief Magazine Straightener's hotline tonight, it sounds like there has been an unexpected big surge in business and we're going to be pretty short.

Allowing us to pick up open time even below guarantee (bid line guarantee) and paying double would sure help you out, Chief.

What is this pick up of open time you speak of? Is it like Sasquatch?

I've heard of it, but never seen it.

Perhaps an LOA, with some incentives, would benefit both the company and the IPA members.

Got OCV?

I notice the two areas seeing additional flying are Asia-ANC and domestic 2DA; after Contract 2016 the company seems to be carrying fewer RSVBs in SDF and since they can't call CA/CPs in for ad-hoc hot anymore a lot more JA calls for afternoon hots or turns have been happening.

"Make hay while the sun shines"...reap the reserve recovery lines a couple bid periods later...and hopefully keep hiring going strong.

Surprised the CPH didn't invoke 13.K.11, though.

Not surprised.

Union-busting 101, go directly to the workers. It is an attempt to make union leadership look bad.

Typical UPS management rhetoric.

For those who've yet to memorize C2016, 13.K.11:

The Company may in its discretion on a bid or pay period basis waive the criteria set forth in paragraph 7 above and specify that all open time will be paid above guarantee. The waiver may be fleet/seat/domicile specific and further may be by category of line (e.g. RMUL, EDW, EDW turn etc.). The Company will provide notice to crewmembers prior to the beginning of any bid period in which paragraph 7 will be waived and detail the extent of the waiver.

Which they conveniently avoided. But they probably didn't see this "growth" developing last week, before the bid period began.

Thanks for the CBA reference

That's the problem with our group right there, how about the company just follow the contract and staff us correctly! Not cutting deals to benefit the few at the expense of everyone else!!!!

How is what RickyBobby said any different from what you just said?
Looks like you're agreeing with him/her and yet you're saying "that's the problem with our group.."??

Yes, staff us correctly and follow the contract (did he/she disagree with that premise?) but what's wrong with an LOA that'd benefit every IPA member? What exactly are you saying?
