Meaning they'll have a 4-5 year upgrade to widebody Capt.

UPS will cough up the cash fairly soon for the Istanbul fiasco.

Yes I agree. UPS would be idiots if they don't pay the penalty. But I would much more rather have the flying instead of the $.

I say the IPA should not take the $ and force these boxheads to change the route or get the slot. It's all political. MNG probably told the Airport authority not to give us a slot. We fly at night, I'm sure one of the Airports can handle one extra flight. I predict UPS didn't try very hard at all.

Can't wait for Peak to watch there strategy implode.

Here's a few more rumors: I spoke with the UPS 757/767 Flight Standards and Training Manager yesterday regarding MIA sim training in the future. He told me that we are training thru peak (not CQ) but new hires/upgrades. Some other things we spoke about was the new training center. They are having a hard time getting the money from Atlanta to build the building. The sims will be finished in Montreal before the building is completed and we may have to fly to Montreal for CQ. Another option is adding a few new bays to the current sim building as a temporary fix until the new building is ready and will cost less then using Montreal for training (hotel, per diem, and airfare). He also said we have not lost out on the remaining JAL 767s. They (JAL) have not yet decided to sell them. If and when they do, they will do a closed bid/auction like they did for the 3 we bought. Also, asked him about next bid, he also doesn't think there will be another system bid this year due to lack of training slots but was manpower planning department's decision.

Some interesting stuff on todays EB update about how the company's hands are tied in terms of using outside instructors. As Lee Wallace once said, "if it's war they want, it's war the'll get"

No waivers, no favors

Not saying I believe it at all but managers in ANC are floating hiring numbers of 1000 new pilots at UPS by 2020.

That makes sense. 325 in 2017, 325 in 2018, and 350 in 2019 = 1000.
