Default Latest rumors

Straight from a chief magazine straightener;

First 747-8 in service 10/18/17. As more come on line they will take the heaviest routes and equipment will cascade down. Expect significant reduction in MD11 flying in Asia as it gets reassigned to domestic by end of 2018.

Expect 66 (yes, 66) new Capts on the next bid just for the 747. Bid this fall and UPS anticipates late 2006 hire as the junior Capt. The 2014 hires are sitting pretty well.

Current 747 training has students taking 2 weeks off in the middle due to lack of instructors. They are in a near panic and exploring "all options."

Just what I've heard. We all know not to believe anything until it happens. New planes are coming though and they are already MEFing in ANC as a routine.

What ever happened to the other 20 JAL 767s?

Any gouge on a 747 SDF domicile or shrinking ANC MD as Ochos come on-line?

747-8 to be put on SZC-ANC. I don't think anyone anticipates a 747 base in SDF (which means it'll happen soon).

They are flat out stating the MD11s will decrease Asia flying. Wonder if the ANC MD fleet will shrink as the 747 grows?

Several months ago, ANC CP said all 747s to ANC and the MD flying wouldn't drop off until sometime in 2019.

747 training is barely keeping their head above water right now. Looking at contract instructors. Wait until the training caused by moving the MD out of ANC. I would estimate 80% of the captains will bump to the 747.

We are still pursuing the JAL 767s.

With the uptick in Asia volume the MDs may stay in Asia to help out a little longer than originally anticipated.

Heard Amazon bought the JAL 767's right out from under UPS.

MCI and STL first 2 cities to get the MD 11 in 2018. More cities to follow as the MD goes almost total Domestic.
