If you don't want to spend money on interview prep, then don't....
For what it's worth, I never went through an interview prep. I simply did some research, talked with a buddy or two and went in with the mindset of "This is me. If you don't like me for me, then this isn't the company for me." meaning, I wasn't going to answer questions with what I "thought" they wanted to hear, but rather, what I really thought and felt. Guess they liked me as I've been with the company for just over a year and change. Just be yourself, be honest and most importantly RELAX. Just my $0.02

Second, are you telling them you really want this job and are doing everything you can to win this lottery ticket by skimping on interview prep? They do commonly ask, “what have you done to prepare for this interview?” Everybody else is doing it, why not you?
Last,
Have you seen anyone who did prep ever complain about it or regret doing it, anywhere?

Now RST for tech prep (Fedex and Delta), that is invaluable, simply because it’s technical knowledge directly on the test, including the cognitive prep, very good as well.

There is so much gouge out there and practice runs for the cog and psych portion. Hiring a company to organize and administer this material for you...

Try finding/organizing everything in a timely manner, especially when you have a short period of time to prepare. Plus they pretty much tell you what is going to be on testing. If you are interviewing with Delta or Fedex, the SBI at EC does help. But for UPS, ehhhhh. So again amigo, we can agree to disagree 😬. Cheers!

So maybe my experience is a bit biased 😉

If you’re not going to argue why you disagree, what’s the point of posting? If you got some valid points on the matter to share with people in the hiring process, share them so THEY can make their own decisions. That’s the sole purpose of this thread - helping people out. No one cares if you think it’s a waste of money.

How ‘bout 3 1/2 weeks from interview to sitting in class? CJO 2 days after interview, never in the pool. Would of received CJO on the spot had Dan Thomas not been out of town. From first call to class under 4 months, and only ‘cause I could not fit in interview sooner, had 2 other big six to prepare for and schedule around work.

I definitely would not attribute it to EC. I had interviewed at other places in the past, could not pull the trigger to leave job at the time, maybe that prepared me.
So, I felt the UPS interview was very relaxed and fluid, unlike the 2 other big six interviews, which were more structured and “rigid”. To your point, the UPS interviewers made you feel very comfortable and I felt like I was having a conversation with a friend. No conflict, just answer the questions honestly. I was not worried about the “structure” of the answer. A few questions I even responded back with question to/about them. I have noticed the hardest part for people is RELAXING, this makes a huge difference. Yes, much is at stake, but, it is what it is. UPS HR interview is very different than the 2 other big six I went to. They dissect your resume to find out about you! Very few canned questions, unlike the other 2 that had a script, not UPS. Just like the job now, UPS does things the UPS way.
This should help our future colleagues.
My advice to folks that want to come here, BE YOURSELF! Mentally prepare as you are going to talk to a friend about your life. The usual smile, polite, but don’t overdue it. They will see right through you. These folks are very well trained at seeing through fakeness, unlike the other 2 which wanted to hear mostly canned responses (IMO).
As far as sim, if you can fly an airplane, you can pass that simple sim eval. Mine was in the Bus, very straight forward, no prep, basic airmanship and CRM. When I interviewed at a ME carrier YEARS AGO, my sim eval was in A330, never flown a sidestick, did just fine, basic airmanship.
