Oh, and while I did not accept offers from other 2, and only interacted with a few pilots here and there, I can say the UPS pilots in general are very relaxed and down to earth (your ofd ball here and there), no BS, no stick up their behind, humble people, more down to earth, no astronaut complex. Great group of people!!

I would never recommend against getting prep. EC and Adam were both beneficial and never encouraged anything but being yourself - they simply help you put your best foot forward. Everyone is different, of course you have those people that can just “wing” it, but usually the people that say they wish they did less got the job vs the ones that wish they did more. I don’t know if it helped get me the job, but I do know it didn’t keep me from getting the job, and that’s good enough for me.

I did a prep and have zero regrets about it. Money well spent. I researched a couple of sights before finally going with Adam. Alot of the services have great Intel and produce a great product such as EC and Cage. Ultimately I went with Adam because of his reputation. He goes out of his way to help you throughout the process. Definitely consider him more of a coach. When your talking about a dream job such as UPS why go cheap to save 500 dollars and wing it.

Love stories like this!
Unfortunately, This is an exception. Not the rule. Mostly you enjoyed good timing on the UPS end. UPS is very bureaucratic hiring pilots. Funding has to be approved from ATL then the airline has to follow its path.... ATL HR has influence, the airline wants its cut...
You were called and interviewed in a hot streak of funding and need. Wish same for everyone to follow.
---------------------------------------------------
Interview prep. Each airline hires its preset type. Each certainly has biases and preconceived ideas of what they want to hire.
Any given day, some interviewing population will be hired. Some by sheer coincidence that they on their own hit the target. Frankly, combination of luck involved.
Airlines have become so engineered in hiring, it makes sense to prepare professionally. The younger you are, the more your quality of life hinges on your decisions and choices. The older you are the less opportunity you will have to complete your goals. Getting called at UPS is a mystery.
Common elements emerge, then you find out dozens have the same elements and never get called.

Getting the interview at UPS isn't just hard work, "luck" is involved. Luck comes in many faces.
Once cross the unknown divide in UPS HR spin machine, must pass an outside entity. UPS still uses the Hogan personality "predictor" Once have the Hogan passed (and each company can spin the dial on what they want--Answer exactly the same and scored for two companies. Fail at one, pass at the other).
Nothing wrong with having a briefing on your intended airline of choice. Get the best odds to sell yourself. Its efficient and increases you opportunity for success. BTW, I am not in any shape or manner associated with any part of this business. Choose as one may, but the goal is to get the job.....Nothing dishonest about preparing by folks who have gone the path and know the potholes to watch and avoid.
Best journeys to all.

I did EC, and Adam Hughes, and sim prep. One month app to call, call to interview 5 days, pool letter after 4 days in email, and called for class date 3 days later one week after interview.. not at all because of my abilities but alot of luck and timing. Hiring at its peak and pool low numbers, a Management that liked my resume etc... I know there were powers in play other than skill....
My point is , I dont think I benefited very much at all from EC...lots of common sense stuff that I felt a public speaking class in college covered.. Do I regret EC? NONE WHATSOEVER!!! You are competing with thousands and thousands of applicants that are probably more qualified than you (wetjer we like to think that way or not!) If EC gave me nothing except confidence in my abilities I already had, it was well worth it! It did allow me to refresh my memory of several TMAAT incidents that I had completely forgotten about.
Adam Hughes provided Excellent UPS specific interview techniques..
Sim was expensive, and I dont think I needed it....but again I went into the A300 sim having spent some time recently in a large jet.
All of these things cost money and I sure didnt have extra to spend, but when going for a 15 million dollar lottery ticket, which is a job with UPS, I felt it was an INVESTMENT just like any other investment I might make in the stock market for my future. To each their own and I tell all who ask, do what you think is best based on your experience and wallet, but I promise you that if you misstep in the interview or have small issue with answering a question, you will wish you had prepped like 98% of applicants have, by using a professional company. Advice is to make an investment in your future. Just my two cents!

So, I felt the UPS interview was very relaxed and fluid, unlike the 2 other big six interviews, which were more structured and “rigid”. To your point, the UPS interviewers made you feel very comfortable and I felt like I was having a conversation with a friend. No conflict, just answer the questions honestly. I was not worried about the “structure” of the answer. A few questions I even responded back with question to/about them. I have noticed the hardest part for people is RELAXING, this makes a huge difference. Yes, much is at stake, but, it is what it is. UPS HR interview is very different than the 2 other big six I went to. They dissect your resume to find out about you! Very few canned questions, unlike the other 2 that had a script, not UPS. Just like the job now, UPS does things the UPS way.

This should help our future colleagues.

My advice to folks that want to come here, BE YOURSELF! Mentally prepare as you are going to talk to a friend about your life. The usual smile, polite, but don’t overdue it. They will see right through you. These folks are very well trained at seeing through fakeness, unlike the other 2 which wanted to hear mostly canned responses (IMO).

As far as sim, if you can fly an airplane, you can pass that simple sim eval. Mine was in the Bus, very straight forward, no prep, basic airmanship and CRM. When I interviewed at a ME carrier YEARS AGO, my sim eval was in A330, never flown a sidestick, did just fine, basic airmanship.
You may not realize this, but many of your posts come off as false-humility.

You may not realize this, but I don’t give a crap how my posts come across, especially one person’s opinion. Simply calling it like I see it, and my personal suggestion to wanna be Brownies. It doesn’t mean at all I am right, just my perspective and my view how to approach the interview.

Just another opinion. I think prep is great and could give you confidence going into the interview. I don’t recall talking to anyone who did it 04-07, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t and times have changed. They no longer do a medical but instituted the Hogan assessment.

You get a lot more time to prepare today then before. When I was called, they said they could fit me in the next Monday, about 5 days notice.
