I’m sure the United thing has caused some anxiety with those scheduled for classes, but I don’t think there’s any basis for it. Between the 16(ish?) growth airframes arriving in 2020 and higher-than-company-expected retirements, we need bodies. To replace the retirements and staff those additional airframes, we’ll likely need more new pilots than they can train in a year.

The company can delay the delivery of the airframes or basically take it and park em if the asian and European volumes continue to decline . I dont think the 2009 scenario will repeat itself but with the TA extension and beefing up the pension and the decline in the revenue it could slow down the hiring.
Asia volume on the light twins has been pretty heavy, although with a few less segments per day. Hopefully Asia recovers soon and Europe doesn’t go downhill.
We wont hear the world is ending until it happens yesterday. But you know, glass half full and all that......

I don’t think anyone including UPS knows what is going to happen over the next few months. If this causes a worldwide recession, I would not be surprised to see hiring stop at the very least. It’s just an opinion, but I’ve been here long enough to know UPS will not run fat on employees. Let’s all hope for the best.
