Until you’ve flown these schedules, I’d reserve my opinion.

I talked to a new hire who just finished training on the 15th of Oct he was third in his class due to his age and he said right before his class start date they asked him which base and aircraft he preferred and that’s pretty much what he got. I’m just trying to figure out what I would “prefer”. Guess when it comes down to it I really don’t care. I’m super excited to have the opportunity to work for brown! No HEAVY time but few 1000 hrs of Boeing time! Thanks for all the info. 🤙
More than likely UPS will choose for you WRT heavy or twin... doubt you will have a choice between 74 and 75/76. At any rate that is a decision reserved after UPS makes theirs; good luck on the interview.

At what point do you find out what airplanes are available to each class?
Domicile is first day of class, right?
Locked into seat for 18 months but can move domiciles prior to 18 months during system bids, right?

Thanks

Heavy class is on Tuesday, then Twins on Wednesday. First day of class is when you find out your equipment. Yes, to the last question.

Does anyone have any update on recent class drops, not sure when the last class was?

Hey guys, needed your opinion..

Do you think it would be worth leaving United for UPS if you lived 30 minutes from EWR? Never did cargo before and am unsure how I’d do at night since it’s hard for me to stay awake late. I get very tired around 8pm or so. Thank you

Depends on how far senior you are at United. Commute to SDF from EWR should be pretty easy. Need more info. Night flying all the time is no joke and not for the faint of heart especially through multiple time zones. But I would say the pay is worth it?

Why would you be leaving? What attracts you to something you haven't a clue about? Money? Sounds like your answer is a big "no". You'll most likely end up miserable. The people that have successfully made the change did so after much education and reflection.

You live in a United domicile and are considering switching to UPS. Yes, you could make more at UPS and retirement benefits are better, BUT you struggle with night flying. You would be trading no commute for an easy commute. You would be trading very good pay, for even better pay. You would be trading rarely flying at night for the certainty of it (international flying and the majority of our domestic involves night flying). If you are intending to bid international at United, you are willing to give up day only flying for more money. In that case, consider UPS where you can do that for a larger chunk of your career. If you were never intending to do that, stay at United.
