A stock market crash would cause retirements to slow down also..which also help aleviate the manning shortfall.

What is the break and should an April class be worried?

The “break”, is a break in deliveries between the last 74-8 and the first of the next order for 19 76s. It’s a roughly 10-12 month break in deliveries. As part of the announcement of the 19 76s, the company also announced a training center expansion. The company appears to be committed to continuing the current pace of hiring for the foreseeable future. Past performance, YMMV, etc.

Last 747-8 is delivered next month (March), about a year or so of no aircraft deliveries, then the 19 new 767s start getting delivered in 2023.

IMO, folks with class dates have no reason to be worried.

That was bad humor. I don’t think we are going to slow hiring anytime soon. Although they had a chance at the beginning of the pandemic to catch up a bit, and they chose to basically stop hiring for a few months due to their ultra conservative nature. In hindsight, I bet they wish they could have that one back.

There’s no break in upcoming retirements…

That's the published acquisition schedule but they've been willing to pick up some lease and used purchase deals here and there as they present themselves.

A plausible rumor of a few acquisitions in the near future that are not 76s. We’ll see if that comes to be.

Quite a few hasty decisions I am sure they wished they could have back

We have had at least 1 class every month since the pandemic started, and some months have had multiple classes. No break in hiring that I could see.
