Just received the call from UPS. Looking forward to the process. Currently 10 year Captain at an ULCC, 44 years old living near SDF. I know UPS has a lot of retirements coming up. Trying to get advice from folks at UPS or current new hires. Appreciate it.

Also congrats. If you live within 90 minutes of SDF this is a great job. Commuting makes it less great. Other people can comment on that.

Living in domicile is certainly the easiest, especially junior. I commuted the first 5 years, lived in base for 11 and then have been a commuter the last five. Everyone can find a niche if they are patient.

I’m exactly 90 minutes from SDF. Is it typical to be awarded 747 SDF for new hires?

If you get the 74 you may have to do one system bid in ANC. Anything else you should be able to hold SDF immediately.
