if the waiting is driving you crazy, then you failed.

What if they went crazy only AFTER taking the test?

It was two and half weeks after I took the hogan before they called me to schedule the interview. If they don’t want you you will hear from them with a week. So no news is good news after the interview. It was 35 days after my interview before I got the CJO!
Good luck.

it can take anywhere from 24 hours to three years. Everyone has been across the board. There’s no rhyme or reason. Did it say you passed after submitting the test? If so, the next step is a screening phone call from a chief pilot. Mine took about five days to hear back but other people I’ve flown with took just one day or a whole year. There’s not much you can do at this point except go to a job fair, whenever one pops up.

I've really enjoyed reading through the experiences in this thread and I suppose I have a question for those of you that have made it to the end for someone looking to make cargo as an end goal. Currently CSE and beginning to work on a ME/CME what route would you suggest I go in building a flight resume for the cargo guys? Somewhere like Mountain Air? Regionals? Thanks in advance!

Ameriflight has a pathway program for UPS and Mountain Air (and a few others) are part of the Purple Runway program for FedEx. Go somewhere and get that multi-turbine, multi-pilot time, upgrade ASAP. As a civilian, consider an ACMI since that tends to be a high probability background for the major cargo operators. Use a digital logbook like LogTen if you aren’t already. Take some notes in your logbook so your can remember your TMAAT stories when you are interviewing. Look for ways to volunteer in your community and with your union if you have one. Network, go to the job fairs, jumpseat on UPS and FedEx. Last but not least, apply early (and consider getting your apps reviewed). There isn’t one recipe to follow, but all of them involve a lot of hard work and sacrifice. You can do it.

How did you get to SDF?

Straight from the RJ? ULCC? ACMI?

I've seen the threads where guys talk about jumping ship from the legacies...

If you chose to leave, why?
Reading these are super encouraging. Keep the replies coming please!

I started out flight instructing in 06

Hired at Chautauqua in 07 and was told i’d upgrade in less than a year. I ended up flying an RJ for 7 years in the right seat. Most I saw was $36.62/hr

Went to 5 job fairs but the legacies were too busy hiring flow, women, minorities, and mil.

Took DEC job with Norwegian in 17. Was told i would never get a job in the US again. Saw the threats for what they were. Thin ALPA antics and trench talk.

Got laid off in 18. Hired at K4 after 2 weeks. Offers from Spirit, B6 and Breeze as DEC. I declined those. I wanted no frills, money, and job security so I could provide for my wife and kids.

UPS in 20. Riding this one out.
