It would not be unrealistic that a CA at a no-beard airline (especially one with more draconian uniform policies) might be concerned about how that would look to the pax. Yes, some airlines specify "clean shave" as a JS requirement... that was intended for guys coming home from vacation but technically would apply to any beard. I'd guess you'd be fine 9 out of 10 times, but if it were me I'd probably JS in uniform... making it clear that your company allows beards and you're not just trying to push any boundaries.

Or better yet, just mask the eff up, and tell them "just so you guys know, I'm vaccinated" That should be good for years to come.

Most places would have a problem with crew possessing an open bottle. My previous employer allowed all the booze you could carry, as long as it stayed sealed until the trip was over. UT based FA's would load up with wine on some overnights, I saw them fill their rollaboards.

If anybody shows up with a face tattoo AND a mohawk they can totally jump-seat with me. Those people are probably pretty cool, and I bet they can talk about new things.

The main deck where bags are stowed is still completely accessible from the upper deck. If a pilot has alcohol in their bag on the main deck at the bottom of the stairs it’s reasonable to assume that they have access to it in flight.

Maybe you’ve experienced it…maybe you haven’t…but there are some pilots that will leave the cockpit for a break…disappear for 10 mins..and come back smelling of cigarette smoke. Ever wonder where they went? Hint…it’s not the lav.

If a company bans alcohol from the airplane crew members should abide by that or expect to be fired if caught carrying alcohol. Pretty simple.

I’m curious how anyone knew you had the hooch. Did they ask or did it just come up in conversation?

I’ve never jumped on UPS, but it sounds like TSA has checkpoints for them near their work place and not in the pax terminal? If so, cool. But I didn’t think TSA cared about booze, and it would be strange for them to be UPS’ enforcers.

At the UPS security desk, they X-ray your bags. They were cool about it, just made me take it out. Not allowed. I jumpseat often on UPS so kind of a bummer, but grateful for the ride.
