If you have a later class date, why not just show up at an earlier one, you know, just in case they need you?

There have been rumors the last few months of a displacement bid in the fall for a reduction of MD-11 crewmembers. The rumor has been circulating since the last system bid in April which had 0 MD FOs and 0 MD CAs on it (other than reshuffling from people switching). But with the June, July and August classes all having MD slots, I can’t imagine they are pulling down the fleet like was rumored. Good news for MD folks (potentially).

I can certainly appreciate your optimism, but that literally means nothing to UPS. In the past, they’ve added one bid, reduced the next, then added again on the following.

Planning appears to be more of a dartboard at times.

The latest rumors apparently coming from planning call for a slower initial draw down and then more aggressive starting in 2024. If that’s true, there may not need to be any displacements in 2023. Rumors are rumors though, we’ll know for sure when the bid/displacement comes or doesn’t come.
