UPS offers pilot buyout as demand falters
I read UPS is looking to offer 167 buyouts, with 157 of those being captains. Is UPS over staffed just in the captain seat, or are they then planning to downgrade about half that number from captain to FO?

I think they will just upgrade some FOs to Capt to even it out when needed after the buyouts.

It will be interesting to see how many takers there are and what the company does after the dust settles on the 19/20th (last of 7 days to revoke separating). The short timeline for this offer means something, I hope it doesn't though.

It looks like they are offering the deal to at least 10% of our captains. My guess is they will fill any resulting shortfalls of captains with JAs in the short term. Long term, I’m guessing the next system bid (probably June 2024) will have a hefty number of upgrades available.
