Agree with everyone else here. Get the pic!!!! 1,000 at the very least, maybe 1,500? and ONLY THEN try for Atlas or any major airline.

So yes, apply at Atlas BUT also at other heavy jet operators AND at every single major airline. Your chances will probably increase if you apply from lets say delta to ups versus regional XYZ to ups. I have no scientific data to back it up, just what I've seen amongst some mutual friends.
One of them had been trying to come here for years. Job fairs, recommendations, more job fairs, you name it.. He went to united, updated his ups app shortly after his IOE was competed and he got a call within a week. He's now off probation here at brown. I believe that some recruiters LOVE to "steal" pilots from major airlines. ;)

Over 2300 Mil PIC, but 1400 of which is Instructing in T-34C. This puts me under the 1000hr PIC Jet/Multi. There's no real spot for me to include all this time since the app only asks for Jet/ME Turboprop other than in my total time - thus probably not making the computer sort for being competitive.
Suggestions on how to list include this PIC? Fill out the app as asked and have my UPS "sponsor" talk to HR?

Also how to you edit/update the app after it's been submitted?

I was a 10 year regional captain with 8000TT and about 2400 TPIC. I went to Omni for international heavy experience. I was at Omni for 6 months when I attend a job fair and spoke with UPS recruiters. 6 months later I was in class at UPS. The path that works best is a MINIMUM 1000 TPIC and then Atlas or Omni. You can message me if you have questions on path. I'm all about trying to help people get on at UPS but I don't like posting on forums.

This is a very easy answer. The UPS pilot application system is not designed to pick out specifics such as pilot credentials. Go to a job fair. I repeat, go to a job fair and talk to recruiters. I can't emphasize this enough.

Though the classes tend to fluctuate with composition, Atlas guys have had good representation over the last couple of years. All of the Middle East guys I've come across were L seat, some were instructors too. Not sure what the current RJ guys are looking like but in the 2015 time frame we were mostly all higher time LCAs with many guys also involved in their safety depts, training/fleet managers, etc.

DAL et als should like your stats, no? Commando will tell you to get on there and don't look back - you could upgrade into an oversized RJ with 1950's tech within a year... I say, whoopiddy-f'in-do, but agree not to hold out for UPS. FedEx? Same job, very similar contract, company a little nicer (on the surface).

OTW I know Atlas is a great ticket to opening more doors but it does come with a cost of being gone more than you might want to be. Your posted stats are competitive at the legacies - perhaps you could go direct vs layover at an ACMI gig and if you really have the bug for brown/purple you can always jump ship...if you dare.

Good luck.

Thank you. Might wait for Atlas to hire into the 747 again then apply.

Ask your sponsor to take your resume to HR and ask them those questions in person. Mark K. for example is former military himself so I'm sure he'll understand the confusion.. THEN fill out the app.

As far as editing the app, do a search and you'll find many different responses. Our HR uses Commodore 64 computers and they just upgraded to Windows 3.0. (I'm kidding ..but not really)

So when you apply have all the documents nearby and be ready to do it all in one session.
If you "save" it to be completed later you might - or you might not - be able to access it again. A friend saved his app and promptly got a "Thank you for your interest but you don't meet our critieria/minimums" message or whatever term they used.

Well, duh, of course he didn't, he'd left out the flight time spreadsheet and was going to fill it out the next day. He wasn't able to log back in and make any changes even when HR tried to reset his application. (a couple of references had contacted the HR). He ended up creating a new app with a new email address.

Good luck to you!

Rumor gaining traction that the next system bid won't happen until early 2018. If true and if I understand this circus correctly, the company has to award that bid before they give any resulting vacancies to additional new hires. So that would suggest no classes for additional newhires (beyond the 300 something under this bid) until Feburary 2018 time frame??

We know we're short staffed so please lean forward for Peak 2017 and work yourself to death. BTW 777 around corner and 400 more new hires as soon as we get through this holiday season.

This message was approved by Mr. Peak 2017.;)

They may be waiting to see how it plays out with the NORKS. If war breaks out in Asia, it will have a massive negative impact on UPS' network.
