Uh, it was too dark for pic, but right in the Max jetstream off japan we saw just about 700 knots groundspeed at .83 Mach IAS. M1F not in hawg mode, just riding the winter jet.

It is never too dark for a picture, you just need another camera.

I beg to differ. If you know what you're doing.. it's not the camera that amazes me - it's the stable hands. Jungle.. you didn't rig a Bogen mount up in the cockpit, now did ya?

Jungle,

Touche'. I carry a Sony U40- 2MP is great for travel shots- runs on 2xAAAs- perfect over the years- but- SMALL Lens- I grew up on F1.2 Contax lenses, I miss that speed... But don't miss the weight. No way I'm carrying a real camera on the road until UPS lightens my flight bag kit w/ some EFBs!

Last trip I broke in my new AT&T Tilt/8925/Tytn II/HTC- 3MP but also, small lens, and not so great drivers/software- I got better drivers now- we'll see- anyway- I'll trade you access to those tailwinds out of the ANC domicile if you wan't 'em- are you MIA domiciled or SDF?

Cheers,
MP

On my Instrument ride I had 50kt winds aloft at a 45 degree angle from my holding pattern (In a Piper Warrior mind you). I'm sure approach got a kick out of my ground track. I on the other hand was not amused. Luckily the examiner gave me some leeway.

No tripods, just repeat efforts braced or steadied and IS or VR help from the cameras at high ISO.

Try a Canon G7/G9 or A710/720IS -just a little bigger but much more capable. Location? Only the Shadow knows.
