Default Summer is here

Last week over Oklahoma/Kansas. We're at FL370.

Yeah, that's purple. The radar is at 0 tilt and we're cruising with about 2 degrees nose up. I heard that cell had grapefruit sized hail.

Stay Away looks nasty. Great shot however, looks textbook.

If you notice, the first pic and the radar shot were taken about the same time, these cells were over 100 miles away. The second pic of the anvil was from I'd guess about 60 miles. That's as close as we wanted to get.

Is this the same system that hit the Scout camp in Iowa?

I've forgotten what thunderstorms look like none of your aircraft even have radar in them.

No, this was about a week ago. My understanding is that tornados associated with this one did kill a couple people in KS.

It's been a rough year for the midwest. I came home for about 24 hours to mow the lawn and sandbag. I live about 30 miles north of St. Louis on the Mississippi and the river has already been closed north of us. My home isn't in danger but I know plenty of people that live and own businesses where it could be an issue. It's about 4 feet above flood stage right now and the most recent expectations are that it's going to be about 12 feet above when it crests. It's eerily similiar to 1993. It all started this way and by July 4 the water was about five feet the top of the steps at the arch.
