Default Bad weather in ORL on Friday afternoon...

Taken on the way to St. Augustine from West Palm on Friday... Glad I wasn't trying to get into Orlando.... Amazing to me the technology available to GA pilots today... Probablly better than what airliners had available in their cockpits just 20 years ago...

That technology is better then what a lot of airliners have in their cockpits TODAY.

Took the words right out of my mouth! But then, where would the fun be in having all the nifty stuff?

The auto thrust and auto land make me lazy enough! If I didn't have to practice my radar skills I may be tagged as unsat for line flying!

With the only possible exceptions being a 787 or GV or Falcon7X, I'm inclined to agree.

'Specially them dang 737-300s that Southwest is flying around. Every time I sit in the jumpseat, I find myself wondering, "Where the hell are we?" Then I spend 3 minutes drawing a mental map in my head based on the DME and VOR radials. Then I'm like, "Oh, there we are." Of course then I get into my airplane and the MFD tells me (roughly) exactly where I am in relation to the next fix/VOR/airport. Still, nothing as cool as them Garmin G500/1000/3000/396/496/696/etc.

Hell, I think our 1 non-efis Bro has better steam guages than them SW -300's. First time I was in the cockpit of one I said to the captain, damn contrary to popular belief, you guys really do work for a living....lol Time/speed/distance Baby.....

That Garmin is a nice piece of kit. I heard about these type of systems which take feeds from ground weather radar, but I never saw one before.

Now that third picture is just ripe for some serious cloud surfing (in a former life)!
