I can't believe I am asking this but do they require you to resign your seniority for example furloughed UPS? just asking?

+1

The days of new hires going to domestic 75/76 and 7ER are long gone. Better brush up on figuring out 3:1 ratios and manually computing crossing restrictions. I heard the DC-9 is nice in the summertime!

Heyas Bar,

I dunno. Pre-merger, not everyone wound up in DTW...a fair number fell into MSP and MEM slots, or held them very, very shortly thereafter.

Unless you have a ton of people looking to bail out of both NYC and DTW (which we really didn't see last AE), I think MEM and MSP are doable, and least from the fNW end.

Ironic considering UPS made Delta furloughees resign their seniority after 9/11 , but no, Delta does not make anyone resign their seniority from anywhere (unless the policy changes this time around, but this was the past practice in writing)

Yes, they do. On one of the first days of Indoc, you fill out a form resigning any other flying job. The military guys don't have to resign from the Guard or Reserves or anything - it's just civilian guys from other flying jobs.

Huh - FlyingSig and I posted at the same time. I'm almost positive I remember filling it out in 2008, and I remember one of the military guys asking BB if he had to - the answer was no.

Yes, you are right, they made all non-military fill it out.

Perhaps because this is an information sharing and gathering forum. Is it not?
I'm sure I wasn't the only one with the question. Knowledge is power, so why not get all the info you can?

I don't think any potential new hire for Delta is expecting anything other than DTW or NYC on DC-9 or -88. There are probably more than a few with the hope of MSP. Whatever they get I'm sure they will be thankful for the opportunity and consider themselves extremely lucky.

Thanks to those who took the time to post the info.

I don't know if the DTW dc-9 is going to be the most junior position. We are parking a bunch of them and we are severely overstaffed on it. The question that has not been answered is where the dc-9 going to be based at. We are doing a bunch of ATL flying, look out Bar, every former NWA pilots wet dream is going to be realized if we move dc-9 to ATL.... My guess is the most junior position is going to be NYC m88 and maybe some new guys will get dtw 320.

i agree, the dc9 will get more senior as the category shrinks. A large majority of the people on the dc9 are there by choice except for a very small number of guys on the very bottom. We'll see

I want to know why everyone thinks new hires will only go to DC9s and MD88s?

Every new hire class during the time I was coming on board had 737s and 757/767s to a variety of bases including SLC, LAX, ATL, and NYC.
