The upgrade time will be 4-5 years very shortly... our first '08 pilot has just been awarded CA upgrade with only about 120 hired between 2008-2011.

And yet you consistently whine about the union you are a part of... So does this mean your criticism of your new e-board will cease, or are you one of those "I didn't vote but my opinion wasn't heard damnit" people?

Damn I was really hoping there would be some good feedback for flying with Shuttle America and the E170. I really liked the fact that the EWR base is Junior. Reserves get anywhere between 80-110 credit hours a month. Reserve wouldn't be longer then 3-4 months. But everything else seems too risky, i've been in the forums everyday for the last month and cant find anything positive about Republic other than the equipment flown. Its a shame, but all you guys cant be wrong or exaggerating the QOL there.

I really appreciate all your help and feedback, its not an easy decision and I am really trying to avoid any lateral movement 2-3 years from now. I just hope when it comes time to apply to the majors, they value the turboprop PIC time more than the E170 time. Thanks again!

Safe flying

Sounds like a tough decision. I'm sure I'll get some flak for this but honestly Republic is not that bad. It's all about perspective. It seems like a lot of people complaining have never worked for another regional. Republic certainly has plenty it can improve upon, but it does have some positives too. I'm a firm believer living in base is by far the most important factor in improving qol. Pick somewhere where you wouldn't mind living in the end it's all a gamble.

Webster Alum by chance?

Have YOU worked at another regional? I sure have and I'm much happier at where I am now.

Yes, I have. Again, I said it's all about perspective. I'm glad you are happier where you are at now. So far I don't mind it at RAH, but that is from my experience here. Yours may vary.

There's a reason why there is a two year contract with the company to reimburse them training expenses if you leave.

Unfortunately it's true, there isn't much "good" about working here. The crews are pretty "tight" but it's a siege mentality. The aircraft are pretty nice and new.

I really hate that people advertise 90+ hours of credit on RSV. I've been on RSV for 4 years now and I've only broken 85+ hours 2-3 times.

Plus, if you have any hope for a life outside of work, you may have to buy a trailer or something and move to one of our outstations. I'm on day 14 of 19 straight days in the airport, commuting or working. Luckily I'll get a good chunk of days off afterwards (5). One thing people don't understand, even guys that have been here a long time is that, RSV schedules are built by hand, so other than preferences, scheduling builds your schedule however they see fit.

The BB, WH duo of excellence, is pretty good at getting new flying, and keeping current flying secure. BUT, signs are that they are over reaching at this point in time.

Ditto this. On airline #4. Really not that bad. Some areas really need improvement. But other areas ok.

The biggest complainers have never worked at another regional for the most part and lack perspective.

Ok, well the few optimists are giving me a glimmer of hope. So on reserve what can I expect to bring home monthly after per diem is added, dues, taxes and anything else that may be deducted. Say we put the average in of 80 credit hours a month.
