It is over 90 for FOs right now because of our staffing issues, only having 11 days off a month, and the 4 hour a day minimum which you usually get after a single leg back to base the day after or before starting an out of base assignment. I concur that this is not going to be this way forever. I believe 4 years on reserve means you are either a captain, or a FO in a very senior base that could hold a line in another base? My money is on you being a Captain, because I've heard reserve is forever in the left seat with our seniority list being so top heavy with lifers.

Our union is awful. I voted(as I stated in an earlier post) for Mickey Mouse. I hope he wins. In the event he is not elected as the president, I will try my hardest to support the new MEC. If, however, they fall to corruption like most leaders in this world, I will continue my incessant whining.

That's all fine & dandy, but RAH displaces like crazy. I've been here 7 years, and live in Chicago. All but two of those years I have commuted because of our displacement language.

MEC? New hires make that mistake all the time, but a Captain having been here eight years? Are you sure you're not a troll?

You need to clearly understand this particular point. Normally everyone would agree that their regional airlines sucks. You read the forums, you see how unhappy everyone is. Everyone says 'don't come here' no matter which airline we are talking about.

But, RAH has a special kind of suck that you need to know about and its this --> NO CANCELLATION PAY

Typically for me it was about $1,500 after insurance, union dues, taxes, etc...

But everything else seems too risky, i've been in the forums everyday for the last month and cant find anything positive about Republic other than the equipment flown. Its a shame, but all you guys cant be wrong or exaggerating the QOL there.

I really appreciate all your help and feedback, its not an easy decision and I am really trying to avoid any lateral movement 2-3 years from now. I just hope when it comes time to apply to the majors, they value the turboprop PIC time more than the E170 time. Thanks again!

Safe flying
If you're looking for an EWR (or NY) base, you NEED cancellation pay. United cancels on a whim, especially in EWR. Crediting 100 hours a month means nothing when winter weather/thunderstorms/runway construction/winds/GDP cancels 30 hours and you don't get paid for it. Without cancellation pay you have the potential to lose thousands per year.

Why are you crediting 100 hours? That could be karma working its magic. Most of the time you get reassigned and then you are pay protected for the original credit of the trip, however most never mention that. No it's not what it should be but at least it's something that will save your pay most of the time.
