Growth at Air Wisconsin
Hey all,
So Im putting Air Wisconsin on my list of potentials and was curious about growth at the company. It seems a-lot of the threads are quiet and not much growth has been said to be happening. Is for someone who is close to the DC/NYC area and who's goal is United, is Wisconsin a good choice?
Thanks!

You’d likely hold IAD within a few months if not right out of new hire training. That being said, you’ll probably never hold IAD CA at this point, so be prepared to commute when you upgrade.
Despite the rumors, people are successfully getting through the CPP. You’re likely going to need a degree though if you don’t have one.

Company has been kind of hush about growth, but I wouldn’t count it out. However, there has to be growth among the pilot ranks first. Right now we’re understaffed for the amount of planes we already have. I’d roughly guess we’d need 100 more pilots at least to be staffed for what we have. We’ve grown maybe 50 total pilots in the last 2 years.

Is there reason everyone is being hush hush?

Because if they promise growth and don’t deliver, it will destroy morale, and they likely can’t pursue growth (at least pursue it to the point of an actual deal) until they have the staffing to do it.

How would you say morale is at the company in rn? And weren’t the CRJ 550s supposed to come here?

We have old airplanes with many mx deferrals, most trips for junior line holders are commutable on one end or none, reserve gets abused, the outstation mx bases suck unless you live there, the United CPP is a recruiting tool more than a "career path". These are a few examples of things that make me unhappy but they're not exclusively AirWis problems.
If you come in with a realistic view of what this is (a stepping stone) for most, you can have a great time. I'm just over a year in and have no regerts
Ohh and also we have a lot awesome people. I've only had one Captain that I didn't get along with.

550’s are going to gojet. I think they would make sense here eventually but I don’t know United’s long term plan for that airframe. I also don’t know how many useable 700’s are floating around that are available to be converted since they aren’t making new ones anymore.
