If I only bid for the first 2 or 3 in the first round and then end up being number 12 in the relief round, I’m going to be ****ed off and it’ll be because of the people who refuse to get it right. Yes, sometimes people forget to bid and they’ll get a relief line. Other people just refuse to bid for relief lines in order. It’s usually the same people over and over and over. They either don’t care that it screws other pilots or they are too stupid to see how it screws other pilots.
that makes sense

I disagree.

You're trying to game the relief lines in round 1 bidding. If you only want the top 2 relief lines but don't have the seniority to hold it, you probably shouldn't bid relief.

You’re not getting it. Seniority in the first round and seniority in the relief round are 2 different things. Not all of the relief lines are good lines. If I don’t want a crappy relief line then I can bid as many or as few relief lines as I want. It’s more about people getting effed by the others that don’t bid right. It’s more about common courtesy than it is about seniority.

What needs to change is the awarding after initial bidding. The bidding power of REL 201 should be number 1 in the relief round of bidding. So if someone bids backwards or randomly select relief lines during initial will think they are senior to everyone else and end up bidding end of relief bidding because they didn't select in order. Another loss in a suggestion in the last TA.

If after decades of years people who don't understand this concept probably shouldn't be allowed to bid and just get the leftovers, after the relief lines have been awarded.

You folks are missing the point. Bid seniority allow you to bid for whatever line you want in whatever order you want.

What you are suggesting doesn't respect seniority. It would require everyone to bid relief lines in a certain order in round 1 just because it makes someone juniors' bidding strategy more effective/less risky.

I think you are missing the point. If you are number 1 bidder in first round but bid for relief line number 4, first, you screw someone beneath you. The truth is, in the second round, you don’t want your fourth choice. No, you want your first choice. You still get what you want but prevent someone underneath you from getting screwed into a line they don’t want.

Maybe you should try being more senior.
