Once F/O's get there ATP's, they'll be slangin resumes left and right. Hopefully that should open things up. I heard the August class was pushed back to Sep. something. If majors would open some gates up...

Yeah as if that will get people so many opportunities. An ATP without t-pic is as useful a gun with no bullets. I have been here 6 years and have flown with capt who have wanted to leave for 4 and had no place to go. Pretty sure some fo with an wet-ink ATP and no other credentials will be a tougher sell.

I just got here in Oct with an ATP, 3500tt, 1000multi. With no tpic, there is really nowhere to go, so I don't think people getting their ATP is going to change anything.

Definitely true for the legacy carriers but why would JetBlue, Spirit, Virgin, etc want to invest money training veteran regional captains when they will just leave once the higher paying legacies start hiring.

Places which intend to upgrade junior pilots will not be chomping at the bit to hire 23 year old newly minted ATPs. It is a piece of paper and no more. It means you have 1500 hours and can do an engine relight and a zero flap landing. Believe it or not, it has not been a feeding frenzy by legacies to hire qualified people to fly their airplanes. Most people who have been hired at majors/legacies over the past 5-6 years have known someone inside or done an internship there or had an uncle on the hiring board or whatever. Not many people without solid connections have been hired.

Just getting your ATP will not suddenly make the majority of SJS F/Os wildly marketable, especially if they don't know the difference between 'there' and 'their' and 'F/O's' and 'F/Os' and 'Slangin' and *** that means out there.
