Yeah. I forgot to mention that, absolutely. I'm a fairly senior FO, but I would sit RSV in ORD if I had to lol. There is just too much going on now in our system than meets the eye.

Even though I am 90 away I have pretty much accepted I will probably never upgrade before the (possible) end in a couple years. That's pretty sad. I do not understand this place. I have flown with a decent number of people who are leaving and, in fact do leave, yet every month it's the same vacancy notice with nothing.

I'll say it again. If the company wants to grow or have something up their sleeve, they need to fix things NOW. Very soon the pool will be so dry your only shot is poaching guys from other regionals. Sounds like they have already been trying with that job fair targeting Silver guys.

In DC most of the mish-mash of regionals is to cover for Republic, but I'm sure in six months they will have solved their cancellation issue.

The parking of planes will help the FO crunch in the short term and I hear there will be an upgrade class in January but I haven't heard how large.

Either way they are going to need to step up recruiting because that plane parking, which is due to high time airframes, will only have a limited side-effect of assisting staffing.
I can tell you this from experience. If you're going to be parking planes along with 4-5 year upgrades, and no future beyond Feb. 2018 then you'll have a damn hard time recruiting pilots. Been there done that and it's awful in terms of getting pilots and movement aka QOL.

Does anybody know how many new-hire classes there have been this Summer and/or Fall and how big have they been?

Anytime! You'd be amazed how many people need to be smacked with the obvious at times.

First: Billy...shut your mouth...you have never added anything to the discussion except ridiculous analysis but then coat it with "but we are all in this together" bs.

For Alfred:

There has been an indoc class every two weeks all year save for a week or two. The class sizes have varied from 2 at the lowest to 15 but most are around seven.

There are two more classes starting this year including on Monday. Then a break due to holiday scheduling.

Ridiculous. Okay Where did I say we're all in this together? We are all part of the American Eagle System and that's about it. There was a time we all partied together. I've crushed beers with Conex folks, ACA, ASA, AWAC, skywest, mesa, CCAir. You're right times have changed and nobody cares about the other guy anymore. Amazing to walk into a crewroom now and see how everyone is divided. Damn sure used to not be like that.

Anyway good luck.

Wow, you must fly jets! I bet you're such a great stick and so great at flying jets a regional airline lets you fly them for peanuts and subpar working conditions... I admire people like you that stand on the 3rd place podium and put down the guys who finished 4th or worse. If you can't tell, (maybe because your unjustified ego is so big) it's sarcasm.

Why did I get an email from AWAC asking me to interview? I do not have an app on file and have not given them a resume in over three years.
