Hey AWAC-ers.... I'm currently looking at a move to the regionals and Air Whiskey looks like the best option by far, all things considered. I've got a lot of happy friends there. I'm wondering if anyone thinks it's feasible to live near BTV and commute to PHL or DCA. Really want to move back to Vermont and maintain a professional flying career. Just wonder if anyone has any thoughts on whether it would be a good or bad idea. One leg commute.. Mostly on your own airline...? And are the lines/reserve commuter friendly ever?

Remember back before we retired from LGA theater in 2012? We used to take some AA bros from BTV to LGA.. I think

It really depends, I know some people were able to, but some vacancy bids only a few spots opened up so they are stuck at another base until there is a new vacancy bid out. But commuting for a month or two until a new vacancy notice is out is not too bad

By the tyime you are done with Indoc, Systems, Sim, and OE, you will likely have been through a couple if not more vancanciy announcements, and you will most likely be able to hold LGA on RSV right off. Remember, on OE, you can tell the company you want to do that out of any of the 4 bases, and they will try to do that for you regardless of your expected domicile at that time, so even if you are still waiting to get into LGA while on OE, you can do OE from there and likley get another Vacancy Announcement to move to LGA.
By the time my NH class and the one after me was done with Sim, 100% had their top choice and that was before any of us started OE, and people went to all 4 bases.
