Did that PSA guy really just say that their contract was better than AWAC's?? I hope he is kidding...

The issues here are two-fold. First, AWAC and PSA were part of the US Express Pilot Group, which was supposed to be working together to keep Airways from whipsawing the groups against each other. The PSA reps to this committee stated they were not entertaining anything concessionary. Then behind every other members' backs, they agreed to their current contract, which outside of the guaranteed interview with AA, is concessionary as per our MEC's analysis. So there is a feeling of betrayal. Secondly, if we apply your contract to our flying and schedules, we end up with a pay loss. What isn't concessionary about that?

It's easy! You want to upgrade faster and go from FO to a Major faster then it's a no brainer. PSA would be your choice.

If you want good pay, good health insurance and wait 4 years to upgrade then it's AWAC.

If you want to go to an airline that has a awful contract, with crappy health insurance, 7 year upgrade....... Then Pick Republic.

See it's simple. Now I just can't figure out how anyone would go to Republic.

See how I added Republic in there just as I did Piedmont. hahahahahah

So you can drop any flying, regardless of reserve coverage, at any time? Surprised your management would agree to that. Of course it might explain why AWAC's block hours per month keep going up.

-3.5 hour min day
Ours is 3.0/day. You got me there.

-Critical Premium pay - 1.5 and 4-hour min day for entire trip that touches flagged days(don't need to lose a day off to get this)
Our premium pay is 1.5 for anything.

-Normal premium pay is 1.25 and 3.5 min day for pick ups

See above.

-Health insurance is around equal to Air Wisconsin's

We have 3 choices (HMO, PPO, Comprehensive) as well as dental, eye, etc.

-Schedule adjustment period is worth at lot more than the rigs that Wisconsin has that would not change pay for 90% of trips anyways

Do I understand this in that you can adjust your schedule up or down in credit and not lose any pay?

-Wisconsin might have better 401K match - got me there

-Much better travel/nov-rev benefits - worth a lot if you're a commuter

Ours are in negotiation with AA, and not governed by our contract. Didn't know yours were codified in your CBA

-Much better priority for jumpseating on Mainline UsAir and American - worth a lot if you're a commuter

Don't think that affects many of our commuters, as they either travel on our own metal or commute offline.

-Guaranteed interview with American based on seniority (currently about 16 years to get it)

Wow. 16 years, huh? Such a deal.

-Don't have to wear hats and trench coats everywhere

Your an airline pilot. Why is this such a big deal. It's the UNIFORM, for christ's sake!

Now can someone post why they believe Air Wisconsin has better contract with bullet points?
- Vacation accrual-up to 5 weeks at year 18, 4 weeks at year 10, etc.

- Rigs - pay is the highest of 5 ways - trip rig (3:1), duty rig (2:1), scheduled, actual, min day (3 hrs). Min day only applies to 1st or last day, 3 or 4 day only, and can only be applied to 20% of the total # of 3/4 day trips.

- 401k - 3% match even if you DON'T participate otherwise.

There is more, but have run out of time for now.

I'm not sure where or how you think going somewhere for a fast upgrade will get you to a major faster? FO's are being hired onto mainline right now, no?
Also, when it's all said and done... American will not poach from its regional feed when the crunch hits. Instead, they'll poach from United and Delta. So don't count on that promised interview from PSA-AA

I used to think the same thing but Parker has made that statement Wrong. They are poaching Piedmont and Envoy as we speak. Parker doesn't want anyone at his regionals longer then 6 years tops. Hence he wanted cost lower to have a continuing flux of low cost crews and then you move on to mainline. Now I see this working for maybe the next 5 years and after that I see major snags. You already are starting to see pilots from other regionals going to PSA/PDT now.

As an American Jumperseater told me. If you don't come from a WO'ed you'll find it very hard to get on when over half of each class is over 50% Wo'ed pilots.

Plus who says someone at PSA/PDT has to go to American?? Upgrade after and a couple of years and you can still apply to the other 3 majors that are left.

TPIC time still matters and will continue to matter going forward IMO. Even places like jetBlue prefer PIC time. Awac's upgrade time has been getting shorter though, but will never get down to below two years.

Yes, however the first time PSA was offered the 900's they told Parker to shove it. What happened then??? Parker called Mesa and Ta-Da CRJ-900's went to Mesa. PSA wasn't going to let the next batch of 900's get away. Just like Envoy told Parker to shove it the first time. You can sit back and blame this airline or that. But bottom line we are all suppose to be ALPA and in the end it's that Union that allows the whipsawing. Just that simple.

I don't think you have a 3:1 trip rig.

Yep, it's all about quality of life. The min you have to work is 65 hours. If you want to fly the min, your days off depend of how productive your trips are. You can do the math. Three 4-days equaling 65 hours would give you 18 days off in a 30 day bid period. If you want more credit, you will have less days off. There are 12-13 hour two days, 16-17 hour three days and 22-24 hour four days that exist Trade into them during the schedule adjustment period. 100 hours with 14 days can be done no problem and those 14 days off can be where you want them to be. Don't want to work weekends? Not a problem for a junior line holder. PSA's scheduling language is far superior to Air Wisconsin's and at the end of the day, quality of life is everything and quality of life is all about the schedule.
