I suggest everyone read the contractual language of the aag w/o's ne pay method. Funny that as of now there is no final contractual letter of agreement posted.
But these increase in pay at aag owned regionals are all temporary and can revert back to current pay as per current contract language.
New hire first year WILL make more than second year and thereafter unless the bonuses become standard every year.

As of now main lines are stepping in to shore up their regional feed; back then they were shoving concessions down everyone's throat and signing the lowest bidders up for more feed.

I agree that 2012 was very different, which is why I still feel consolidation is in order. 2012 there was more regional flying, more airplanes and more pilots.

News from our negotiation committee was interesting. I ll just highlight a few things but it's interesting how the company wants to have the ability to hire off the street instructors who would fill a management/ instructor position. I didn't read too much into it. I ll let some of the other guys/gals chime in.
"Significantly, we reached agreement on three economic sections: Section 7 (Vacation), Section 14 (Sick Leave) and Section 28 (Retirement)."
"The Company is starting a new hiring program for something they call “management instructor pilots.” These instructor pilots would be flying in addition to our present flight instructors. These new-hire pilot instructors will be paid $45,000 per year and will fly the line. It is unclear why we need more instructors, as our present instructors are not busy given a lack of pilot applicants, and we also would prefer that future instructors come from our experienced pilot ranks."

They can hire people to work as Captains, but not have to pay them as captains ($45,000 is terrible pay for a Captain/instructor). It sucks for FO's, who will not upgrade because they hires an "instructor" that will fly the line as well and take the seat away from them, but it makes financial sense for the company.
With new hire FO's making more than $45,000 at half a dozen companies now, and instructors making much more than that just about everywhere, I can't imagine that any good instructors would even consider doing it.
