I made that mistake before. I have to put some blame on ALPA. If we were getting our dues worth they would make at least a half hearted effort to unite us all and advise us on the futility of chasing empty promises, inaccurate projections and dreams of fast flows instead of throwing their hands up and advocating each carrier is on their own and free to feast on each other.

With most of the other carriers increasing pay, bonuses and incentives to attract and retain pilots,if Awac had ANY TYPE of announcement to make, now would be the time.Otherwise, so many people will eventually jump ship until they may not be able to staff the flying they already have.
They havent made one because i truly believe there isnt one to make.Rumor is an additional 16 rj900's to Psa and a few additional 175s to Rah. That in itself would mostly cover the 200 flying awac does for AA.
The writing is on the wall gentleman.

I'm as pessimistic as they come but I just can't imagine a scenario in which 700 well qualified pilots are allowed to just walk out the doors. Even if AWAC isn't flying 50's for AA I'd put money on them flying something, for someone. As of right now they are one of the cheapest operators out there in terms of pilot costs.

If I were an F/O on property <3 years I would probably jump ship mostly because the pay and bonuses have really picked up and as a CA I would be shotgunning out applications but I wouldn't be that concerned about not having a job in another 18 months.

Unless United or Delta step up, AWAC is done. Old 50 seat jets that will be in the desert in 5 years will not be enough for a new contract.

These new incentives at the WO are designed to fill classes with pilots from other regionals - mainly AWAC. Junior FO's will end up making out better, as they will the jump first and be senior to the guys that had years of seniority at AWAC.

The word is that PSA has received over 70 applications since this was announced.

Really, think about Comair? In today's hiring environment there's plenty of other places to go. And some almost immediately.

If any substantial announcement were made this place is fine. It will be like every other regional that's filling classes.

After Comair shut down, and the pilots found themselves at other airlines, there were many formerly senior captains that ended up being FO's and the former Comair FO's that left sooner became Captains. Complete role reversal. Happened after ACA as well.

That's what I was trying to say, but accidentally posted it before I was finished. Companies love it when they get someone on a lateral move. They get experience on year one wages. And as seen when Comair shutdown, many will do it. I'm not sure why there is security in the thought that American or AW wouldn't let 700 (valuable) pilots go especially when the trend seems about consolidation. In my opinion, your best bet at this point is being acquired

When being chased by a bear, I do not have to run faster than the bear, I just have to run faster than you.

Same is true here.

The WO don't need to pay you more than you make at AWAC. When they shut AWAC down, they just need to pay more than the other regionals at year 1. If year 1 pay at the WO is the highest, people will come there when they shut down/downsize the other airlines.
