This. Previous captains get no special credit anywhere I know of. The type rating gets you the bigger bonus, not a previous upgrade from another airline. Any FO flying a CRJ has a type rating.
Idiot. Having a type rating does not help you upgrade faster ANYWHERE. 121 hours and seniority get you the upgrade. Being a captain previously does not help you upgrade faster at any 121 airline. You would still wait to upgrade after a more senior qualified FO who has absolutely no PIC.

Then please enlighten us. We aren't talking about being hired as a street captain. What regional can someone go to with a CRJ or ERJ type rating and upgrade sooner than another guy in his new hire class?

I should get an Airbus type from Spirit and then go to American. According to his logic I can beat everyone to upgrade there!

Looks like we have 40 some fo's hitting the line according to the vacancy that was put out recently and around 40 is the number I heard in the August classes heading to the sims in the coming weeks. Apparantly just as many in the next round too. Interesting to see how many bail after the October bonus. Eleven fo resignations on the payday hotline today for the month. Several new guys I've flown with were getting back into aviation due to our sign on bonus and overall package.

I was a 4 year captain here with a former comair captain in my right seat who had something like 25 years there. Being a captain elsewhere doesn't let you skip the seniority line here and upgrade magically ahead of anyone else. We don't hire direct entry captains.
