Never again can we agree to arbitration! Alaska pilot as a group need to grow some balls for 2020! No scope. God help us.

Any idea what the arbitrators based the scope decision on? Comparison to LCC's like NK, F9? I don't know which of them even have scope yet...

I was really hoping for scope but I was expecting them to not touch scope with a 10 foot pole.

Cliff notes:

No scope
No Retro
No international/ETOPS override increase

Pretty fair and good pay scale
15.5% retirement
Highest first year pay in the industry.

I am super bummed about no retro pay and no scope, but I wasn't banking on either one.

Cliff notes:

ALPA proposal for scope and job protection is denied.

Top scale hourly rates will be $251

New pay rates for years 1-5. They are pretty much what the company wanted, plus a few dollars. Other years were denied and directed back to the parties for future negotiation.

ALPA proposal for increase to international/etops is denied

ALPA proposal for increase in the DC contribution rate is denied.

Non-DB plan pilots increase to 15% this year, and to 15.5% next year

ALPA proposal to amend contributions in excess of qualified plan limits is denied.

“Fair pay scale” but does it matter when Skywest is flying around in more E-175s than Alaska has 73s?

We can argue that all day long. Of course scope is more important, but for anyone to think we were going to get a comprehensive scope agreement in arbitration is smoking crack, even the ALPA scope proposal would have imposed no limitation on the amount of flying Skywest could do.

I am not super mad at the payscale, but overall this is a win for management that is for sure.
