It's required, but don't wear yours if you don't want to. We have many pilots who don't even bring their hats and no one gets on their case about it.

Management is way more worried about the orange lanyard.

Blue pants - check
White shirt - check
Brown shoes - check
All I have to do is buy a pair of epilets and a tie - $20.

I’ve endured 3 paycuts (‘92, ‘93 and ‘05), purchased two other uniforms without a supplemental allowance and won’t be buying a third. No, I won’t wear the hat, either. Doubt we’ll have an allowance, although every past MEC has asked for one. They want us to be paid #5, then I’ll ablige them with a look that reflects their objectives.

Why the heck not? Wouldn't that be discriminatory? Also, I sort of like the scarf-tie, it reminds me of Seinfeld where he wears the pirate shirt.

I may get in trouble over this, but I'd like to see how long I can go without wearing a necktie. My time at VX free of that outdated tradition has been very comfortable. And why not, the leadership is also forward thinking and has done away with them.

The blue suit was fine. It ends there.
Tie design-fail
Hat-fail
Ginormous Wings-fail
Brown Leather Jacket-fail
Brown Shoes-fail

Even after all that I think the FA's got it worse than we did.

No way in hell is Alaska going to offer to pay for any of this absurd pilot costume. Has anyone been paying attention?

ALPA contract Section 26, S...

“The company and Association will mutually agree to any changes in Uniform”

I don’t expect ALPA to agree, easy as that!
