Delta would of been a better choice. But JetBlue management and ours would coincide flawlessly.

I'm hoping this "talk up" of a potential merger ignites bigger major airlines to take action, Delta for Alaska and United for JetBlew.

No thanks from DAL. Acquisition maybe, but a merger would be disastrous. The current management at Angle Lake couldn't negotiate a deal to save their lives. Good Luck Eskimo's!!

Yeah Alaska name staying? I swear these journalist are so short sighted, just cause the name was out longer it would stay? i doubt it. I think us jaded pilots are too close to this "Eskimo" problem to see it clearly. For example, "the Eskimo would never succeed in Hawaii," right? The flying public doesn't care about Barbara Bush on our tail.
They would select Norwegian to go from LAX to Singapore or Tokyo if it were cheaper. Point, compare, click. Discriminating frequent travelers will probably ditch Virgin for Jet Blue or Delta based on merits of the Alaska product. But the Eskimo wont be a deterrent while people and searching the web for fares.

Abandoning an established customer base after an acquisition doesn't strike me as good business sense. Everyone says that these guys "know how to make money" and not to worry. But so far, I haven't seen it.

Custom uniforms, rebrand.....with 2 paint schemes, Brads 4 million dollar bonus , Minicucci’s multi million dollar bonus too (all for closing the Virgin Deal), hiring the village people to perform for employees......do I need to keep going?!?!

Hired The Village People? It looks like the merger is in the works already and you have some JB plants in management. That is a total move that JB management would do. . .and then put out a press release about it.

Hard to believe JetBlue is able to succeed flying the airbus on these routes since it’s such a poor transcon aircraft. 🙄

If you were a paying passenger, which airline would you buy a ticket on? One with great service, and a lot of flights? Or one that’s cutting back?

All Alaska knows is how to retreat.

As stated in their investment calls, they don't know what they're doing. No real plan. But that's no surprise to any employee with a few years seniority.

I can't believe that... JB hasn't had a plan in over a decade.

I give credit to jetBlue. They tried to buy VX first, in fact their initial approach was before Alaska approached us. Anyway, even if they didn't end up buying VX they sure as heck made it expensive for AS to do so!


Hopefully AS and VX merge in a couple years to become a decent 5th largest airline.

When you remove all of our outsourced flying by Skywest/Horizon we are a distant sixth. Jetblue operates their Embraer’s....we at Alaska prefer to outsource ours.
