And what are you willing to give up in negotiations to get that? Considering the pilots have somehow never even been able to show enough willpower to hold out for scope I mean?

all this contract and uniform talk is irrelevant..there will never be another contract at alaska nor another uniform worn. it may not be announced in the next few months but the days using the alaska call sign are numbered.

I would not want the union to be in charge of pilot hiring. Many different issues, liability being one. Let management hire pilots like it’s done at every other company.

And while the truth may sting, the window opens for ~150 jobs for the year and ~3000 will apply. This place will have no problem filling up seats even with the current contract, and yes many locals will apply. We have leverage going forward, but I really hope the union doesn’t stand on retention or attracting pilots as an actual issue for Alaska. It’ll be no factor with how little AS hires compared to other airlines.

I don't really know anything about how it's done at Alaska, but pilots are heavily involved in the hiring process at DL.

As is every other airline.... that dude is on some serious narcotics.... Who in the **** would want management being the sole source of pilot hiring? Oh, right... a management tool such as that a-dub...

You know what I mean. The computer algorithms, the classified scoring matrix, psych, etc. Yes I realize pilots are also involved in hiring and interview on the hiring team.

At Alaska, for the last 20yrs anyway, pilots are allowed to be a part of hiring. Only as long as there are 5 applicants for every job. When it thins out HR runs the show. Management also uses pilot recruiters as internal reporters...Kinda spy like. The whole process is ultra sleazy but that is the norm....Alaska is not really the kind of airline where you care who they hire anyway
