You are too real for this forum and your words too pure. Stop casting your pearls before swine, let them wallow in their ignorance.

Well I'd say it's been since 2008??? or so since any airline (of major size) has furloughed, many on the the seniority lists (and reading msg boards) you have 20/30 yr olds who may be unfamiliar with how this will play out eventually.
I own a 20yr old who happens to be in college. Just this summer I was having a conversation with him about internships/plans for after graduation in a couple of years. In his world where he has worked as a lifeguard in a couple of places while tutoring and sometimes at a store while in HS and first summers of college, he has NEVER known a bad job market. He has only applied, interviewed and been asked "when can you start?" at every job he's attempted to get.
That's his experience growing up during an expanding economy with record unemployment. So there are more recent pilots/youngsters who have had a bit of a utopian employment experience so far who are about to introduced to the other side of the coin.
Hopefully something can help and make it an expeditious recovery so we all don't have to wallow in a downturn long.

I’m in that age group and fully know well what happened from the last recession where you couldn’t find a job and there was no hope. I got so desperate I was looking at caravan ops in Indonesia but thankfully I was recalled before that got serious. I still laugh sometimes thinking what I would do being desperate to fly back then. Of course I flew with a lot of new guys the last few years who were totally out of touch with the realities of this industry. The entitlement was pouring out of them. They though they had the jobs because they were so good. This industry can be very humbling also.

Can we quit the personal attacks from all sides? I’m not a fan of some of the trollish behavior but I do want to read as much information as possible of what could be. I appreciate MEA’s and OTZ’s insight into what’s going on. It’s what this forum is for. Opinion, thoughts, possibilities, responses, etc. We all get to choose what we do with that insight. You don’t like it then give reasons why or just bypass their posts. The last thing we should be doing is doxing or threatening. At the very worst they’ve put numbers into what could happen. Makes sense for all of us to prepare for that and hope for something better.

☝️☝️☝️☝️ Yeah man. THIS RIGHT HERE!

One thing I’ve appreciated about most professionals in this business is their ability to comport themselves during highly stressful, potentially life threatening situations. It’s what we do. Take in data, evaluate it for accuracy and relevance, make a plan and work the problem..... to whatever best conclusion results.

This forum, your MEC, LEC, articles, your colleagues, friends, family, accountant, banker, etc..... all data. It’s YOUR job.... non of those data sources job, to be calm, wise, prudent etc in what you do in response.

Whether you agree or disagree with OTZ and MEA.... investing any amount of emotional or other energy into figuring out who they are, is energy wasted you could use to streamline your finances, brainstorm on backup plan, or just enjoy the day. What they offer is kinda like a guy handing out a flyer for a strip club in Vegas. If you find it helpful and informative you can take one. If you don’t, feel free to pass or put in the trash. If you don’t like that information, attacking the guy handing it out won’t change the fact that there are still strip clubs in Vegas.

Come on yall. Nut up. You got this. I’ve been through it. Might be getting ready to go through it again. Not gonna lie... it put a hammer on me. But, I survived and learned. And in some ways, life is that much sweeter. If you haven’t been through it before and need some encouragement or advice, message me.
