Default MEC to push for DAL-N Call in Honest policy

Just got this from the 108 LEC newsletter. Apparently, it was adopted at the March MEC meeting in MEM.

WHEREAS The Delta Pilots who are premerger Northwest Pilots enjoy a different commuting policy "Call in Honest", from the premerger Delta pilots, and

WHEREAS the premerger Northwest policy is clearly a superior policy, and

WHEREAS The Delta MEC would like Delta Management to adopt the premerger Northwest "Call in Honest" policy for all pilots.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Delta MEC directs the MEC Chairman to engage Delta management and secure the premerger Northwest "Call in Honest" policy as the policy for all pilots going forward.

Now I do have to wonder, if this happened at the March MEC meeting, why am I just hearing about this in May (no I wasn't able to make the most recent meeting).

Default Slow Motion

Things always just move a little slower in the South. No offense intended here, I grew up in the south.

Depending on which MEC you believe, this is one of many items not cherry picked because the NW negotiating committee was pretty much ignored for most of the negotiations prior to the formation abort and subsequent solo launch of LOA19. Later on we can start *****ing about why we didn't keep NW retiree medical and computer bidding and displacement rights..

Additional factor - It's a NW Policy and not contractual.

I have to admit that the FNWA was usually pretty prompt about posting highlights from MEC meetings.

2 months is a little too slow IMO.

Since the NWA policy is not contractual it lives at the discretion of the company. There was a push in negotiations however the company refused to move into policy and insisted they stick with what was contractual.
The policy would have a quite different effect on Delta verses the old NWA system since the patterns of comutting are quite different. There is also a cultural difference. Northwest had a pecking order. They gave priority to management for non rev travel. In addition they gave priority passes for check airman and their families. It was excepted as part of their culture. Non rev travel at Delta has always been the same for all employees. The MEC is trying to get the policy extended to the new Delta however I think management will stay entrenched with the current non rev system.

How does the "call in honest" program have anything to do with the Non Rev policy? Also could you elaborate on the different commuting patterns.

Sailing...........I'm not trying to pick a fight, honest as you're not the first southie I've heard say this.

But, it seems to me that the 'spin' trying to explain why we aren't going to use the NWA system is starting to come through loud and clear.

Too bad, I think we will be saying "we told you so" for a long time to come.

Wasn't RA the guy that implemented Call in Honest at NWA?
