I thought they just spent a ton of money at SFO for expansion so why would they close it? Hopefully I'll get more then management doesn't know how to operate an airline 😂

Thats only partially true. They know how to run the airline that’s existed for 90 yrs…. In much the same way it’s existed for at least the last 20…. Reactively and at a profit.

There is nothing about our branding or messaging internally or externally that says to people outside of our current footprint and client base “Fly Alaska.” That’s considered a feature not a bug by AS management. In the same way In N Out doesn’t head down to Texas to compete with WhatABurger.

They do what they do. When challenged, they do one of two things…. Retreat….. or start shuffling the deck to protect SEA. That’s it. That’s the playbook. Is what it is. Outside of their legacy core market, they ride the winds of change like a Bedouin tribe. So, one day…. In SFO, one day maybe out, then maybe expand, then maybe shut it down.

That’s who we are. It’s just not what most pilots want. Our individual options are: Leave… or…. fight for a contract that makes staying and putting up with it worth our while. Application ink, or April 1. Anything other than that is just pillow talk IMO.

The only question that remains is whether or

Well there you go, tossing all your credibility out the window!! Whataburger…oooph!

In and out is far inferior to whataburger.

Their fries taste like actual cardboard.. but oh wait before you tell me to animal style them… I shouldn’t have to cover my fries in thousand island and cheese to make them taste good.. they do taste good animal style but still like eating cardboard covered with delicious sauce.

go whataburger.

Oh yeah,
Alaska still sucks big time

If In N Out offered spicy ketchup and bacon I might reconsider. 😉😂

We are talking about closing the pilot domicile in SFO. The rest of SFO including the FA base will remain and grow. Think San Diego. They have never spent any money in SFO for the pilot domicile. Alaska does not do any hub city or focus city planning that includes a pilot domicile…,

Maybe the think the current pilot backlash is largely instigated by old-skool VX people, and this is their way of punishing them?

I don’t think “they” think much about pilots or care much about pilots. Any of them. Alaska truly would like to go back to 3 pilot bases. They have disliked the PDX pilot base since it opened. SFO falls squarely into that category. They are happy to have FA bases all over but not pilot bases. Deeply entrenched company culture that just can’t change.
