To what extent are we expected to participate in someones subjective self reality? Will we get disciplined if we refer to someone against their preferred pronoun and someone overhears it?

What if the apple doesn't believe it's an apple, but rather a tomato?

If the fruit had an opinion on what to call itself, then we should probably listen to the tomato.

Is there anywhere you draw the line with this?

nice edit

How about right here. Talking vegetables.
Fair enough for you?

I have a nephew in his 20s who is as masculine, and as heterosexual as they come, and for him and his generation, this he/we/they pronoun thingy is just a normal part of the demographic fabric of our society. No big deal to them.

I struggle to come to grips with it because from my "traditional" perspective, it really seems absurd that you can literally choose to be called whatever you feel like you wanna be called, (you can even add, mix n match, and change it up too), and people face the risk of being canceled if they somehow fail to comply with your wishes.

I understand that society's values and standards evolve with the passage of time, but man!

I am empathetic to certain circumstances though, therefore, I just stay in my lane and try not to get a coronary over it.

Resistance is futile, you will be assimilated...

No, I want to know how far clown world logic goes. If a 45 year old man believes he is 16 should he be allowed to to attend high school? Date minors?

The vegetable thing was your example.

Absolutely not. Calling an apple an orange, for example, would not risk extreme social ostracism, the loss of a job, or even jail-time. Let the Gen-Z crowd do as they please, but to force such a drastic societal change creates instability. I’m all for change, and have always thrived on it, but when you start pulling on a thread of the social-fabric that keeps society humming, then I have a problem with it. I’m grateful for the founding fathers’ brilliance and foresight, intentionally creating a system of checks and balances and mild-dysfunction that slows change to a more palatable change. I don’t care enough to want to change your mind, but don’t pretend it’s liberal of you to not respect a differing opinion. Seems to me those that fall left of centrist-left are literally clueless when it comes to basic human nature - they’re the leftist authoritarians masquerading as enlightened liberals.

The same logic could be applied to using the N word. Do you have a problem with that too? Is that compelled speech?

By not recognizing someone's sex, chosen or not, you are deliberately attacking who they are.

The clueless are on both sides.
