In the event of a Southwest merger a lot of our pilots who have never experienced it yet will learn the joys of commuting after Seattle, Anchorage, Portland, and SFO either are drastically downsized or closed outright.
I say that a little bit tongue in cheek, but if Alaska is now “hunted” as mentioned earlier, I sure hope it’s another ALPA carrier, I know people feel like anything would be better than Alaska, but I don’t see an acquisition by Southwest ending well at all for Alaska pilots.

I am confident HA was the direction AS Executives wished to go. Sounds like the board decided to explore other options. My understanding is AS needs to have us under a long term contract per conditional agreement. AS management needs a contract they can live with though just in case the DOJ shoots this down. I guess 2,500 737 typed airmen is kinda valuable right now.
