My class was back in Dec. of 21’ and was about 30

No doubt there’s some attrition out of new hire classes and pilots in their first year, but it’s no where near 50%. The union publishes attrition figures on a monthly basis and while it is easily on pace to be higher than last year it is not the mass exodus these boards would have you believe.
Most of the attrition is from junior pilots who are leaving for better opportunities, our upgrade of four plus years that the company heralds as a great draw is likely about to go up with the upcoming Airbus displacement bid, so that may spur some more to seek better opportunities. |
Haven't read the full thread and you guys probably aren't even talking about it anymore but....... As an AA pilot do not settle for ACD. Get MCD. I know it is easier said than done but ACD has prompted a massive decrease in pairing quality. There are some benefits(Hawaii pairings, redeyes) if you have no min at all but I think overall its a loss in pairing diversity/quality.

My class is well over 20 and they didn't push anyone.
Curious, but why would anyone go to Alaska? They are the lowest paid, worst retirement airline out there. As well as no scope & a single aircraft. Who wants to fly a 737 for 30 yrs. Delta, United, FedEx, UPS. Thats where I’d be heading to. If you’re gonna be gone from your house, make the most money you can. Buy play toys & stuff your 401k. |

It's a rest area. It's not very clean, safe, or adequately maintained but it's there. You can take a leak and/or a dump, clean yourself up, eat a half day old PBJ sandwich, and maybe even take a short nap before continuing on. For the elderly, lazy youth and the unwanted, this is home. Some think it's a homeless shelter but it's just a rest area.

I am here because I like Alaska airlines and I also live in between Seattle and Portland. I may get a few more days off at other places but then I have to commute which I refuse to do. My situation and preference are my own and it's not for everyone but this is a perfect fit for me and works with how my life is set up..... Now I'm sure everyone will chime in with some comments of what they think I should be doing but you're not me so you do you. 😃
