We'll see. Somebody had to be first and every other non-regional management team seems to be stonewalling rather effectively waiting for the recession.

Perhaps in a year you will feel ripped off and angry or we might all be facing furloughs. I've seen enough booms in this industry to know they don't last and we're still making less money than we were in the 90s (in aggregate and adjusted for inflation).

The company bargaining in good faith does not necessarily buy them an extra couple of years in mediation. Bargaining in good faith is simply the bare-bones legal requirement that arises out of the RLA's obligation to "exert every reasonable to make and maintain agreements."

The Ninth Circuit explained in a 1980 RLA case that "obstinate and unyielding" positions do not violate the requirements of good faith bargaining.

If "obstinate and unyielding" positions on both sides result in an impasse, then a release may become realistic in well under a couple of years even though both sides are bargaining in good faith.
Posted the above on Oct 3 on the “Alaska Air Hiring” thread. I’m a SWA guy. Apparently, I have at least as good of a sense of the zeitgeist of the Alaska pilot group as “OTZEagle1,” who, if I recall correctly, predicted a 77% or 78% pass rate.

From the get go this was a 80% yes vote from our pilot group. I was way off, you are right. Maybe we should use decimals next time. I always new it is was a slam dunk at 75% as in the past I have watched the loud sower the reasonable. Yes sir, you absolutely proved yourself better and me wrong. You are definitely a SWA pilot dude!

I was wrong, I am always wrong. Listen to the dirty 30, they have the world on a string.

Exactly. With your margin of error and my “approximately,” we were both pretty much exactly as close to each other as the actual final result. You were on the low side. I was on the high side. Neither one of us was off by much.

by the way 23 people have privately messaged me they are voting for the TA… not one no yet🤔

What were the pay rate increases again? Also, I believe the snap up clause had 5 airlines…is it the highest of the 5? Congrats on the TA.
