I know a guy from Qx who went UA and just left and got hired back here. He lives in Pdx so I kinda get it. But he’s in SFO till he can hold Pdx so kinda ironic

Probably be able to hold PDX at Alaska before he could at United. For some, geography is the most important factor.

They must have come to Alaska for all of the growth that’s coming after the need for the LOAs in January and February. 🤣

Would love to hear more info on this. Is the company asking pilots to take time off in Jan/Feb?

Yes. More discussion in the general thread.

People somewhat in the know have told me that bookings look good after Feb. So maybe a normal post-holiday slump aggravated by consumer economic uncertainty.

In the past, airlines would just put a bunch of people on SCR, wasting their time and the company's money. Covid might have simply gotten them thinking outside of their usual box.

I've intentionally bid reserve during Jan/Feb, on the assumption I won't work much. From the company perspective, it doesn't hurt to offer it up. I'm not sure it's CBA-kosher since it's not company-wide, seniority based.

Ok to bring things back to the subject as someone who lives in western WA and is looking at offers from SWA and AS what's the call?

Obviously Delta is the call but don't currently have that option.

My opinion is that it's a non issue. Apparently a money saving tactic.

There are quite a few here who are stoked on the idea of powder hounding it all of January.
