We got that stinking thing called scope. You know, the thing you avoided for years. So now that you have it, I could see the view look that it feels like no change. The industry average up this year was modified (your “gift” isn’t really a gift, it’s dealing with a reality for recruitment and retention). $340.25 which is within 1% of the big 3. PBS will make it easier to get certain days off and get a line with more of the types of trips you want. As it is, you get to use your 25 yrs seniority to double dip in the seniority game for 1st and 2nd step, and then free for all 3rd step. At that point you’re basically PBSing your line.

It’s ok to fear change. That’s seems to be the mantra for a lot against PBS for those who haven’t used it.

“Toxic pilot hating stew.”

25 yrs at AS, respectfully, what other airlines have you worked at? Browsing Delta forums (especially that Ed bastion one), Southwest forum, AA, and you’ll see pilots who are convinced their management is terrible and hates pilots.

Shy, I bet you would believe a stripper if she said she liked you hahaha

Hating pilots is in airline management’s DNA. We are their largest cost after fuel and one of their biggest pains in the ass. We already know you don’t understand how the real world works, but for Christ’s sake pull the wool up from over your eyes. The few management teams out there that show their pilot groups actual respect are the rarity - the highest evolved form of their being. But still they’d drop us in a nano-second if they could.

The payscale will be fixed and compounding retro is what we’re asking for.

We were one of the first airlines to sign in 2016 so I’m fine being last and letting everyone else slowly raise the bar. Had mgt signed our rewrite in 2020 we’d be so far behind now.

You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink. Up until this year we’d only had around 500 quit to OAL’s in the company’s history. Up to 267 this year alone.

It’s a fact we fly more at work than anyone else. No reason to keep a lid on it. If you work more than your peers, you should be paid more for it. If you’re lucky, next year your last snap up will be a good one.

Hopefully next year management won't have to throw out the SWA pay scale to keep us competitive with airlines like UAL and Delta. That was a bone I never thought management would throw us.

I still can't believe that on a AK vs WN thread you're saying that you guys work harder than anyone else and get paid the least? After saying: "Pilots are still leaving Alaska for SWA post contract at Alaska and pre SWA contract. Enough said. Better pay, flexibility, days off, vacation. List goes on and on. And it’s about to get a whole lot better"

Weird flex but OK

Yeah my bad I got the clowns coming over to the AS forum to contradict themselves and highlight the terrible safety culture where they work confused.

Not sure I'd go there 2 days after one of your own tried to kill 83 people, but ok.

Then how exactly are we holding down your pay rates?

Don't understand how the real world works? And comments on management. Typically, that kind of statement is usually someone who has only done flying as a career. Reality is, it’s even worse in corporate America. At least I’m just a number here and despite the occasional grievance, get paid per the contract. “Toxic stew?” Hardly. And if it really is toxic stew, make your life better and leave. Plenty of DEC spots at the legacies these days.

I don’t know anyone here who doesn’t operate safely. With 4k flights a day and 800 planes….stuff’s gonna happen. Nobody is going out of their way to cut corners.

We’re in contract negotiations…I’m not in a hurry to do anything. Things happen…like shoving landing gear through the wing in SNA…nobody I’ve seen is blaming that pilot for the incident. Having someone in your training dept lose it in the jumpseat while under the influence isn’t a good look.
