Probably won’t need too many LA/SF reductions, no shortage of guys in LAX and SFO who will want to bid SAN. Every LA/SF voluntary bid to SAN takes out a reduction requirement one for one.

Someone walks in first morning on the first day and has a list of the vacancies and go down the list by age asking what base you want. It's pretty straightforward and painless. Like everyone else said expect LAX or SFO.
Like everyone else said, "Welcome." |
Any idea if SFO or LAX is more commutable from SEA? Obviously SF is closer and actually has the earliest and latest flight each day, although looks like LA has 3-4 more flights per day total and more carrier variety. That said I have no idea what the loads look like. What do typical trips look like for a junior FO out of each base? Thanks!

Out of curiosity, whats the timeframe from applying to interview?

Both have nearby alternate airports in a pinch, although in LA you'd have to Uber or take a bus. LAX has more airlines and less weather issues. I'd go with LAX unless I had good reason otherwise. Number of company flights would be a factor, but you need to exclude the RJs. |

That depends on your application strength. Mine was two months app to interview. Military and regional captains were the only ones there with me on interview day. They for sure want a good cultural fit, and they want to see community involvement. That’s what I gathered from the interview.

Hello!
Recent CJO in hand, awaiting class date for Alaska side. Figured I’d start this thread for all the other new hires recently and those coming. I have no information about class size, composition, or dates. At some point, someone will hopefully share some info here, and I’ll do the same when I have info! Happy to be joining the team! |

Resume details? TT, general background and such?
If you are absolutely bent on needing numbers, I have shy of 1,800 total, 1,500 turbine, former military and at a regional currently. There were guys with over 8,000 hours there that didn’t get the job. Again, I emphasize, the numbers will not get you the job, or even an interview. This isn’t UA, DL, or AA where you hit a “magic number” and you get a call. |
I'll double down on what Rocky said. I have similar numbers as them(except don't even have the 121 time). My interview experience was the exact same and I left with a very similar impression - culture fit over pure stats. And that didn't turn me off to AS or make me think their CJO pool is any less qualified. Being a competent pilot is the baseline and as an industry we often use hard numbers to define that, so it's easy to default to thinking that way. But it seems like they're also focused on finding someone with the ability to deliver solid customer service and be a team player, which is harder to quantify. If you're the right person for the job, you'll be alright. And hopefully that takes some pressure off. Just my three cents.
