What interviews?

 

I'm curious where the 19 number came from as well... Can I get one of those pm's as well?

I was told by a poolie that it's closer to... 54.

Yesterday the AK page was updated to read "Hiring-NO". I imagine they will still need to hire before the Virgin merger so I wonder when hiring will resume?

 

I know of a pilot who interviewed and was hired in the last few weeks. My understanding is we are still interviewing and classes are being filled for July and beyond.

 

What was his background and hours? Who are they looking to hire?

 

The guy I was flying with who brought him in to meet the Chief said he was a regional captain.

I know from the job fairs the average they are looking for is 5500 with 1000 PIC for civilian and 3000 for heavy military... Fighter I can't remember.

They are looking to hire people who really want to be here so if you get a meet and greet make sure you let them know.

 

They kind of have to hire people who want to be there. We are about to combine 2 companies and still not be that big of an airline. With DAL, FedEx, Aa/us, and soon to ual with short upgrades, high pay rates, and good retirements why would anyone want to come to AS/VX. Serious question

 

1. You like the kind of flying they do. Only Alaska is a serious Alaska airline. Delta (actually SkyWest) is just dabbling in hopes of stealing the market from Alaska. SEAK flying is like nothing else. If you like doing that on a regular basis, Alaska is where you go.

2. You like the company. Alaska is my first choice when I need to travel somewhere. I've had better customer experiences than on any other airline, except maybe Hawaiian. Most of the people I worked with back in my flight instructor days are now at Alaska, and they seem to like it, so why wouldn't I?

3. You're a West Coaster. They way it's going these days at Alaska, you're not spending a lot of time at a base that isn't your preferred base. In the meantime, the commute isn't that bad. You could spend a lot of time commuting clear across the country with any other.

4. You hit the hiring lottery and Alaska is the one that called you while you're still only one of many thousands waiting for a call from The Big Three.
