What’s up with the aircraft order change up? They changing plans again?

If you constantly change, you can never be held to your word.

Tell me which base is getting 7 year hard lines? Not open flying lines.

I'm genuinely curious. The data thread on Alyeska doesn't lie.

SEA most junior "hard" line was Oct 2013. Not sure why you’re eliminating OF lines. Those are also regular lines of schedule. They are not reserve. And some OF lines are nice! When I got OF lines in LA, I got 16 day off lines. Whereas in regular hard lines, I bid all and couldn’t hold any of them, not even the 12-13 day off lines.

It's disingenuous not to include OF lines. They are also regular lines. They exist because we don't have PBS and those are lines constructed of dropped trips due to vacation, training, conflicts, etc.

OF lines are another example of lowered expectations. Your bid power is considerably reduced because you're left with the scraps.

And you're on the bubble for years. Not knowing if you'll be able to hold one depending on the monthly block hours.

Consistency is part of feeling comfortable. And that is one thing this company fails to do for a large portion of the pilot group.

Just another example of why paper line bidding is archaic and hurts the pilots.

Are you really complaining about consistency for a guy who's on the borderline? I was that guy last year. I always bid all lines, regular and OF. Bidding that way last year I was August reserve, Sept OF, Oct reserve, Nov OF, Dec reserve, and so far this year Jan hard line, Feb OF, March hard line. It's called seniority and being a junior CA. Once all the May bid guys are done with training I "should" be in hard line territory for good, barring WW III and/or oil going to 150+.

I agree with you that line bidding is archaic and it sucks. We need a good PBS system with good workrules to go with it.

A line is a line… I think we had 8-10, 23 year to 17 year guys in SEA bid back to OF…. Why? because they are lines, must be ok even in the top 10 to 15 in SEA…. But I am sure that group just had “lowered expectations.”

Where are you coming up with 17 years…. That’s embarrassing dude

Crickets…. I heard the board turned down a HAL deal, SWA expressed significant interest and subsequently walked. Just a guess but that change looks like they are going to give it a try independent… Just a guess. AS seems pretty confident UA is going to make a play for JetBlue and the subsequent price will be quite expensive.

Come on Bro,
We have been “bought” every 3 years since we came to this place in the late 90’s. Think of the complete $h1T show this business has been and this airline has been for the last 24 years. We are no more “bought” now than any of the other times….Not happening. We have “bought” twice to kill off potential competitors…I don’t see anyone worth killing off out there now..Now if they decide to close up the “boutique investment firm” aka Alaska Air Group then we be sent to the auction house…
