Hey all, 3000TT military dude looking to get back to Anchorage with my family. Just put my app in for Alaska this week and hoping for a call. I understand assignments are based on age at Alaska.
What are the chances of being based out of ANC following indoc? Failing that, what is the commuting life like between ANC and the other bases?

The unfilled spots go to new hires I guess at any order of availability as the company seems fit. But here is where the FO effective March 2 position bid fell:
Base/positions filled/positions available/estimated lines
SEA 606/816/587
SFO 88/121/91
PDX 221/226/163
LAX 204/237/188
ANC 137/149/107
320LA 62/129/65
Your mileage WILL vary with the estimated lines!
It seems plausible that you could hold realistic hope to hold ANC in the subsequent bid or two if you don’t get in class.
Good luck, but don’t forget other carriers that operate in ANC as strategic options too.

A new hire in my training wanted ANC but got LAX initially. He was able to get ANC FO on the most recent bid, effective in March. He should finish up OE near the end of January, so should only have to commute for a month. Seems like you would get it initially or soon after.
