There will probably be some of that due to the new contract, but this is not an AS-unique phenomenon. Some X% of FO's delay upgrade, some of them never bother... if you don't actually need the money the QOL hit is immense.

So far, it's been a non issue. Apparently there will be another bid effective before summer. So we shall see how people feel about the contract. I was finally able to hold a day turn schedule, on weekends of course and I'll be at the bottom of the reserve pile sooner than later.

My effective date for captain upgrade is March 2nd. I took first available. Bidding for captain every time it came up. I will have been at AS 4 years and 11 months.
I'd plan on at least 5 years. Keep in mind it could be much longer if the 800 FOs who are senior to me decide to upgrade.
