CA bases have been consistently junior for years, probably due to high cost and AS targeting PNW/AK applicants (who then get forced to commute for a while). Also due to lack of interest in AS from CA pilots who have many other options.
It will be interesting to see how SAN shakes out. Are you planning to bid for SAN or stay in LAX? LAX seems to be a bit more senior on the Captain side of the house.

No new positions for the realignment bid that posted today. Just moving seats out of LAX and SFO for SAN. They can't hire unless there are open positions from a bid.

Right, but this isn’t a surprise? It’s a net zero bid.

You can still potentially get it. Bid what you want, and back it up with a bid protecting your current base and seat. If an ANC Capt takes a SAN CA slot, that opens 1 ANC CA spot to be filled as a proffer. Etc etc

I don't think he works here yet. Methinks he was a yellow bus driver until a few days ago.

Well even before the war, the plan was no more hiring for 2026 until end of the year Q4. Now with the war, those plans are probably kaput.

Pilot mgmt mentioned the Fall, I’m sure you’re right though, no hiring for the Alaska side. The Hawaiian side however has three more vacancy/displacement bids coming up, Sept, Dec, Feb. By the end of that or sooner, 787 SEA FO seats could go unfilled and therefore hire into.
