Yeah, I do not work at Alaska, was hoping to apply. Part of the group that got our termination notice on Saturday.

The most recent HA bid was also a zero sum game. Shrink other aircraft to fill SEA. I expect the next several to be the same unless the Amazon contract is extended. We don’t complain about it though, because we understand how displacement/vacancy bids work. Sucks to be junior. Also helps to have multiple fleets.

Excuse my ignorance since I’m one of those waiting on a class date. How does the company determine whether or not they’ll do a vacancy bid? I assume there’s a crew ratio for each aircraft… so when enough pilots have retired, left, or the company gets more planes delivered, they’ll start new hire classes.

When was the last Hawaiian new hire class? I think I remember September or October 2025? I’m curious if the next classes that the Air Group offers will go to the Alaska or Hawaiian side, since we were told to hold tight til the fall by the company. Thanks!

Sorry man. Sounds like there may be some openings on the HA side this year. I wouldn't count on any hiring on the AS side.

They move inefficiencies in the system base/fleet to substitute growth. Apparently management is good about that instead of adding bodies. It is a good/bad thing depending on if there are enough voluntary pilots filling those spots.

Our fleet complexity creates opportunities and movement, so I expect HA before AK.

Anyone looking to hold LAX is gonna be ugly

the most junior person in LAX will be here 10.5 years and the plug. Sad brutal almost 11 years and the plug but in la on ua dl and AA I’m sure 11 years gets you a nice line. SFO is going to be a 9 year ca plug. I have a feeling attrition is about to pick up again

New ALPA tool yikes upgrade time in any base is gonna be a while didn’t realize how many people were looking to upgrading. Gonna take a while to go through the backlog and that’s before this displacement bid

It's based on the last bid, not live data. Bidding behavior changes with every bid and with minimal captain positions currently it's no surprise that the outlook looks bleak. We obviously need planes and growth and for gas not to be double what is was 2 months ago for that to change.
